How It Works
The Outcomes and Credentials dashboard is broken down into three distinct sections: Year-Over-Year Outcomes, Detailed Outcomes by Cohort Year, and 6-Year Outcomes.
Six-Year Outcomes Dashboard
The PDP has partnered with the American Association of Community Colleges to mirror some of the outcomes that were previously available in the Voluntary Framework of Accountability (VFA). The Six-Year Outcomes dashboard, to the extent possible, mirrors the logic previously provided by the VFA and may differ from some of the logic in other areas of the PDP.
The Six-Year Outcomes dashboard can be found by selecting Six-Year Outcomes from the dropdown menu at the top of the Outcomes dashboard.
The Outcomes and Credentials dashboard shows the completion rates and other outcomes for students by cohort year. Outcomes are categorized as follows:
Students who earned a certificate, associate’s degree, or bachelor’s degree…
- at your institution
- at another institution
Students who are still enrolled…
- at your institution
- at another institution
- 2-year institution
- 4-year institution
The dashboard displays outcomes for up to eight cohorts of students and up to eight years after a student’s first enrollment (when available). Each outcome year also includes outcomes from previous years. When students have multiple outcomes in the selected timeframe, the dashboard displays a combination of the highest and latest outcomes. Previous outcomes are not displayed. The highest outcomes are considered in the following order:
- Bachelor’s degree at your institution
- Bachelor’s degree at another institution
- Associate’s degree or certificate at your institution
- Associate’s degree or certificate at another institution
- Still enrolled at your institution
- Still enrolled at another institution
- Not enrolled
Year-Over-Year Outcomes
Year-Over-Year Outcomes At can be selected from the initial dropdown on the dashboard.
Note: The Outcomes At: selection limits the available cohorts shown in all visualizations to only display relevant cohorts that have met the selected milestone (i.e. if you have selected outcomes at 2 years, only cohorts that have completed 2 years will be available).
Dashboard Sections
Year-Over-Year Completion
This section shows your institution’s overall completion rate across cohorts with a disaggregation by dimension. This can be filtered to completions at any institution, my institution, or other institution, as well as completion with any credential, associates or certificate, or bachelor’s, using the dropdowns in the visualization title. The data appears as lines that show trends in completion from one cohort to the next based on the selected timeframe.
Year-Over-Year Percentages/Counts
This visualization allows you to see a stacked bar chart displaying percentages or counts for all outcomes, not enrolled, still enrolled, completion at other institution, or completion at my institution across cohort years.
Year-Over-Year Credentials Conferred
The Year-Over-Year Credentials Conferred heat map displays the percentages and counts for the given outcomes across all available cohorts. The lighter shading reflects a lower number/percentage compared to a darker shading indicating a higher percentage/count.
Detailed Outcomes by Cohort Year
You can use this dashboard to view detailed outcomes for a specific cohort year, with outcomes at up to 8 years depending on the cohort selected.
Selecting a new cohort year will change your default “All Outcomes At” back to 2 years.
Student Count by Highest Credential Earned Call Out Boxes
The call out boxes show the unduplicated student count, in the selected cohort year with the outcomes at filter applied, by highest credential earned.
Completions for Given Cohort Year
The Completions horizontal bar chart shows the outcomes for the selected cohort as compared to all cohorts you have submitted. The bars are sorted by three broad categories (Completions, Still Enrolled, and Not Enrolled) and further broken down by credential type awarded and institution type.
Completion Broken Down by Dimension
This visualization shows the accumulation of outcomes over time based on the outcomes at selected above. As an example, if Outcomes At is set to 4 years, it will show the total number of bachelor’s degree earned at my institution in the first year after the selected cohort year through the four year after the selected cohort.
Credential Conferred in Years after Enrollment
The Credential Conferred stacked area chart displays the proportion of degree type (bachelor’s at my institution, bachelor’s at other institution, associate/certificate at my institution, or associate/certificate at other institution) over time based on the selected cohort and Outcomes At filters.
