    > Who can use DiplomaVerify?

Third-party commercial or corporate requestors can use DiplomaVerify only if they agree to seek high school diploma verifications for 1) permissible purposes and 2) with the written consent of the individual to be verified at the time they sign a contract or complete the registration process to create a profile. An individual high school graduate can submit a verification request for their own diploma.

Permissible purposes include that the individual has applied for employment, military service, a workforce or educational certification or credential, or acceptance to an educational program of study.

    > Choose the Request Type

After logging in, select “High School Diploma” from the verification types offered.

Note: The options displayed to you reflect the services you selected. The “High School Diploma” verification option is only available to corporate users, individuals who are high school graduates, or contracted users who have a signed agreement that includes diploma verifications.

    > Enter the Individual’s Information

Select the state where the individual received the diploma. Once the state is selected, enter the name or code of the high school. A dropdown list will display all possible matches in the state from which you can select the individual’s high school. If a school does not appear on the list, it does not participate in DiplomaVerify.

Requestors can download a list of participating schools, which is updated daily. For each school, the list shows the earliest year of data available, the most recent year of data available, and the school surcharge (if any) that will be charged to third-party requestors for confirmed verifications of diplomas issued by the school.

The minimum information required to request a diploma verification is the individual’s first name, last name, and date of birth. You also can include a middle name and/or alternative name(s), but these elements are not required. You must also provide information on the end user requesting the verification (not required if you are requesting the verification for yourself).

A third-party corporate requestor must upload a signed copy of the student’s consent in order to submit the request. Commercial requestors who have signed agreements with the Clearinghouse must obtain and store consent for every request, and produce it upon request by the Clearinghouse. If you are an individual requesting a verification of your own diploma, submitting the transaction indicates your consent.

    > Review and Submit Order

After you enter the required information, click “continue” to review your order and, if necessary, edit it. At this stage, you can add an optional reference ID to the order — a unique identifier you can use for transaction mapping — before submitting it. Please note you must agree to the terms and conditions to submit your order.

    > How DiplomaVerify Differs from DegreeVerify

DiplomaVerify is designed to give you the same ease of use, fast turnaround time, and accurate results for high school diploma verifications that you have come to rely on from DegreeVerify for college and university degree verifications. Becoming familiar with a few key differences between the services will help you understand your results.

    • DiplomaVerify returns a binary response (“Confirmed” or “Unable to Respond”) as opposed to the degree details (e.g., degree title, degree level, and major) available through DegreeVerify.
    • DiplomaVerify returns the diploma award year (YYYY format) for the diploma award date, rather than a full date (YYYY-MM-DD).
    • The Clearinghouse cannot return further details or perform research into the reasons for the response returned. If you seek further details after receiving an “Unable to Respond” response, you should follow the same procedures you use for schools that do not participate in DiplomaVerify and contact the school directly.
    • There is no school research process for diploma requests.
