Why do I have to create a profile to request a verification?
Creating an account with the National Student Clearinghouse allows us to verify that you have a valid and approved reason for using our Verification Services in compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), which protects students’ privacy in their education records.
What is multi-factor authentication?
Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is an authentication method that adds an additional layer of security to users who access Clearinghouse services. After you enter your user name and password, MFA prompts you to enter a security code that will be generated and sent to you based on the MFA option(s) you choose. See Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) support.
Can I update my multi-factor authentication methods after I create an account?
Yes, you can update any of your multi-factor authentication methods after completing registration. See Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) support.
