The next Financial Value Transparency and Gainful Employment (FVT/GE) Reporting cycle starts July 1st. The National Student Clearinghouse does not expect the Department of Education to extend either the first or the second year’s reporting deadlines. Before the next cycle begins, let’s look back at the first year.
Reflecting On the Year 1 Reporting Experience
2024 was a whirlwind of requirements, implementation, and reporting as schools were faced with meeting the new and complex FVT/GE reporting expectations. During this time, the Clearinghouse stood up a fully integrated solution in partnership with a school advisory committee. The goal: provide much-needed relief and offer dedicated support for the daunting administrative burden of complying with the new compliance obligations.

Five takeaways from the webinar
- The National Student Clearinghouse is enhancing its data intake and compliance reporting platform to streamline administrative burdens and improve data transparency for institutions.
- Successful compliance reporting requires cross-departmental collaboration, common definitions for data, and realistic timelines to manage data quality and reporting obligations.
- The Clearinghouse is committed to providing iterative updates and leveraging institutional advisory committees to ensure solutions are school-informed and meet evolving regulatory requirements.
- Institutions can now submit enrollment, degree, and advanced registration files via a secure “Data Upload” drag-and-drop functionality, simplifying the data submission process.
- The Clearinghouse aims to support institutions in measuring the return on investment of postsecondary programs amidst changing political climates and regulatory priorities.
The Clearinghouse has diligently worked to support your enrollment compliance reporting needs for more than 30 years. But as we saw with FVT/GE, there are conversations happening on both sides of the aisle, and the compliance landscape is changing. One thing we know for certain, though, is the idea of accountability being an integral part of the reporting process is here to stay.
