This is follow-up to our July 1, 2026, post, 2026 FVT/GE Reporting Update: Optional Fields for Student Level Report and Clearinghouse Validations. The National Student Clearinghouse has added a confirmation pop-up to the FVT/GE Dashboard for Reporting Year 2026. The pop-up will appear when a user first logs into the FVT/GE Dashboard and requires a Financial Aid Officer at your institution to select “yes” or “no” to the Clearinghouse continuing to act as your third-party servicer for program earnings accountability reporting.
Only administrators with the Financial Aid Officer role can select one of the pop-up choices. You can see your institution’s list of FVT/GE users and their assigned roles on the FVT/GE dashboard’s “Users” tab, which is located in the Service Profile in the left navigation bar.
Confirmation Pop-up Text and Selections
Please confirm your institution’s authorization for the National Student Clearinghouse to continue to act as your third‑party servicer for program accountability reporting. The final Financial Value Transparency & Gainful Employment (FVT/GE) reporting cycle includes elements aligned to the Student Tuition and Transparency System (STATS) framework, and your selection will apply to both FVT/GE and STATS reporting.
- Yes, continue to use the National Student Clearinghouse for this reporting and authorization to act on the institution’s behalf for FVT/GE and STATS.

FVT/GE Reporting and STATS Implementation Timeline
- July 1, 2026: Final FVT/GE reporting cycle begins. In the 2026 Student Level report, institutions can choose to report all optional fields or “early-implement” STATS by leaving one or more optional fields blank.
- August 31, 2026: Whether an institution reports all optional fields or leaves one or more optional fields blank (“early-implement” STATS) in the 2026 Student Level report, it is subject to the provisions named in the Department’s Final Rule on STATS for regulation 34 CFR 685:
“Agreements between an eligible school and the Secretary for participation in the Direct Loan program…As part of such agreement, in order to maintain eligibility for a GE program or an eligible non-GE program to participate in the Direct Loan program, show that such program meets the student tuition and transparency system requirements under 34 CFR part 668, subpart Q, and the earnings accountability requirements under 34 CFR part 668, subpart S.”
- October 1, 2026: FVT/GE reporting is due.
- January 2027: NSLDS is expected to distribute draft completers lists under the STATS framework.
- June 2027: NSLDS is expected to issue their first earnings accountability results for all institutions under the STATS framework (there is no loss of Direct Loan eligibility for failed programs and programs that fail are not labeled a “low-earning outcome program”). After NSLDS issues the first set of results, institutions have opportunity to close or discontinue Direct Loan participation for failing program(s). See the Department’s Final Rule on STATS for information about voluntary orderly program closure.
- July 1, 2027: First STATS reporting cycle begins under the full scope of the STATS and earnings accountability framework.
- 2028: NSLDS is expected to issue the second earnings accountability results (there is loss of Direct Loan eligibility for programs that fail the measure two consecutive years and these programs are labeled “low-earning outcome program”). Direct Loan eligibility loss for these programs begins July 2028.
