As a student, you have the right under FERPA to invoke a directory information block at any time at any college you attended, which you can do by notifying that institution’s officials in writing. The college will update the directory block indicator for your student record in its next scheduled data submission to the Clearinghouse. As a result, blocks are both institution-specific and time-sensitive. You can remove the block by submitting a request with the college.
